Unsigned band research- The Summer Skinny

As a track which holds personal significance to me, I feel that 'The Great American Napkin' presents itself as a strong potential choice for our music video. In my perspective, the song expresses messages of conformity and regret relating to society's willingness to accept such a lifestyle; thus the meaning is emphasized through particularly powerful lyrics- "They never stopped to see what broke, their only thought was don't stop kicking away" seems to determine prioritized devotion of an individual's career over their "broken" happiness, whilst "She sold the rites away" could indicate the decreased worth of moral obligations and integrity to succeed wishes which are not one's own. Likewise, the line " Your heart will leave you, your heart will never know" especially stands out, defining instantly a sense of unintentionally losing a sense of one's self. Considering these ideas, I think that a possible video idea may be to document the transition from childhood into an adult, perhaps with footage of an adolescent character torn between these two stages in their life, representing deep reluctance to abandon their childhood in order to accept professional responsibilities and relationships, or what they think will introduce loneliness.

In regard to promotion of the band, who are relatively unknown and with a brief appearance in the 2007 thriller film 'Disturbia', I am confident that our video could promote the group through a committed representation of what I view is a meaningful and humble song exploring the importance of self-worth.
